To Berniecrats

Dear Berniecrats,

I know it is difficult emotionally as Senator Sanders' chance to be the Democratic nominee moves closer to zero.

This is causing Senator Sanders' millions of supporters to confront thinking about what is next for them if Senator Sanders is not the nominee.

There are many possibilities for you.

I would like to encourage you in a certain direction.

I believe some of you are turning your eyes to the Congressional elections.

There are Congressional candidates who are identifying themselves as Berniecrats. More Congressional candidates are likely to start identifying themselves in that way.

It can be expected that a large number of Sanders supporters will turn to supporting Berniecrat Congressional candidates.

I am sure you have your own ranking of the issues that Senator Sanders has made central to his Presidential campaign.

One of those central issues is the problem of the corrupting influence of money is politics.

This blog, and the citizen effort it is espousing, are exclusively concerned with the money corruption problem.

The method of this citizen effort is set out in the entry 2016 Congressional candidates' Declarations and further links given in the entry.

In simplest terms, the object of the citizen effort is to force Congress to confront, before November 8, 2016, the nature and extent of its corruption, and to pass reform (or not) for voters to consider, in order that the Congressional elections in November may be a referendum.

I have been endeavoring to bring such citizen effort to the attention of Senator Sanders and to get Senator Sanders to endorse it. I have gone so far as to draft A campaign statement for Sen. Sanders as a suggestion for him. I thought such a statement would help Senator Sanders in his Presidential campaign, in addition to helping the cause against the money corruption problem. Please note that the only thing being asked of Congressional candidates is that they demand that the current Congress debate the corruption problem before November 8th and act (or expressly not act) before November 8th.

That should not be hard for a Congressional candidate to do, and, if a Congressional candidate balks, the voters in the district should get very vociferous against the candidate.

So, to Berniecrats who decide to get active on behalf of Berniecrat Congressional candidates, I urge you to consider asking your Berninecrat candidates to make the public declaration set out in the entry 2016 Congressional candidates' Declarations.

As to Senator Sanders himself, his campaign hangs in the balance between (i) folding himself in with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic establishment, and (ii) continuing in an independent way to push and grow the movement he started by running for President.

In this choice for Senator Sanders, urge him to do the latter, including by being the leader of the citizen effort by issuing a campaign statement along the lines of A campaign statement for Senator Sanders.
