What to do if you're not going to Philly

Democracy Spring wants to "see you in Philly"

Here is what Democracy Spring said in a July 3rd email:
With the nation watching, we will offer the [Democratic] Party a clear choice: either publicly commit to fix our democracy in the first 100 days of a new administration, or face mass nonviolent civil disobedience throughout the convention.
Why the DNC? Because that is where our movement has leverage right now.
It’s no secret that the Democratic presidential primary has been marred by voter suppression and the prospect of unelected superdelegates deciding the contest against the will of voters. And, inspired by the insurgent challenge of a candidate almost entirely funded by small donors, a rising progressive generation is demanding a political revolution that establishes a government of, by, and for the People – not just the billionaires. Yet, the Party is set to confirm a presumptive nominee who openly raises millions from big money interests without restriction and continues to confine her support for systemic reform to a website page and brief, vague statements.
Meanwhile, even after our April sit-ins moved over 100 members of the House Democratic caucus to sign on to a letter supporting our reform agenda, the Senate’s Democratic leaders have proposed a reform package that leaves out the most game-changing thing they could enact with a simple majority: public funding of elections.
Democracy Spring is reaching out to Sanders supporters, saying:
This is an opportunity for the millions of people who’ve been inspired by the Bernie Sanders’ campaign to join others in strategic nonviolent action to push that revolution forward – and open the door to rapid progress on economic, racial, social, and environmental justice.
On the Republican side, Democracy Spring says:
All are welcome who share our goal of political equality. We will have a presence at the RNC and will target many pro-corruption Republican candidates with disruption across the country in the coming months, but at present there is only one path toward a new President and Congressional majority pledged to pro-democracy reform: forcing the Democrats to honor their base and publicly embrace our agenda.
Democracy Spring wants to reach millions with its message, saying in a post scriptum:
P.S. Help spread the word: share this graphic now. We need to reach millions with our call to action.

What you can do if you're not going to Philly

Many Democracy Spring supporters complained about a lack of main stream media coverage of Democracy Spring's April demonstration in Washington DC. At the time, virtually all the political attention in America was focused on the Presidential candidates , and very few voters were cognizant of Democracy Spring's event.

What will happen with Philly remains to be seen.

Democracy Spring has scant funds for advertising its call to action on TV, in mailings, or by phone banking or door to door canvassing.

The social media does not require money and only requires volunteers willing to do social media messaging. Democracy Spring, however, is not making effective use of the social media and is limiting itself to "echo chambers" that are only "preaching to the choir."

Democracy Spring needs its supporters to participate in tweeting banks. Tweeting banks can get Democracy Spring's "call to action" out to millions of people in the general public, if the tweeting banks are organized, messaging is devised for the tweeting banks, and Democracy Spring supporters around the country are willing to put in time and effort to send tweets in the tweeting banks.

If you are not going to Philly, and you want to do something, let's get tweeting banks going. This can be done starting immediately, but it requires that you be willing to send tweets. If you are, tell Democracy Spring that, or tell me and I will tell Democracy Spring, and we can get tweeting banks going.

It's up to you.

Update 7/9/16
I have been using #DemocracySpring and #FightBigMoney to tweet links to this page. There have been 400 page views of this page but no one has offered to tweet in tweeting banks.
