TWEETING BANK FOR CALIFORNIA 12th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT TO #DeclareForDemocracy

TO: As many voters in the  California 12th Congressional district (regardless of political affiliation) as we can tweet to

This message is being tweeted to you individually.

We who are  tweeting to you are both in and outside the California 12th Congressional district. We share the belief that the American voters should use the 2016 elections to force Congress to confront, before Nov. 8, 2016, whether it is corrupt or not, and to pass reform for voters to consider in November. For more information, please see 2016 Congressional candidates' Declarations.

We are calling this citizen effort #DeclareForDemocracy.

We want the Presidential candidates to promote #DeclareForDemocracy.

We think the California 12th Congressional district is an important district for #DeclareForDemocracy.

We want as much publicizing of #DeclareForDemocracy in the California 12th Congressional district as possible.

We hope to send individually directed tweets to thousands of voters in the California 12th Congressional district, which tweets will have links to this page.

If you come to this page and want to help us do even more tweeting to voters in the 12th Congressional district, please follow the guidance provided below and join in the tweeting.

We hope you agree with our #DeclareForDemocracy citizen effort.

Thank you.

GUIDANCE FOR TWEETING IN CA 12th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
A. General
This tweeting involves a non-standard use of Twitter, namely, the sending of very large numbers of individually directed tweets to users of "relevant" Twitter hashtags or to followers of "relevant" Twitter accounts for the California 12th Congressional district.
A ground has been staked out with Twitter for this method of tweeting. See letter to Twitter @Support.
The object of this method of tweeting is to break out of like minded social media circles in order to "push out" messaging to a wider audience. For discussion of this, please read Breaking out of like minded social media circles.
For questions or discussion about this tweeting, go to Google group topic Congressional district tweeting.

B. Your tweet message
For your tweets, we suggest the following tweet messages, but feel free to compose your own (hopefully your tweet have a link to this webpage).
Tweet for the candidates in the CA 12th Cong'l district to #DeclareForDemocracy.
http://2016candidatesdeclarations.blogspot.com/2015/11/ca12-tweeting-bank.html
Tweet for Nancy Pelosi in CA 12th Cong'l dist., who will best advance #DeclareForDemocracy. http://2016candidatesdeclarations.blogspot.com/2015/11/ca12-tweeting-bank.html
Tweet for Bob Miller in CA 12th Cong'l dist., who will best advance #DeclareForDemocracy. http://2016candidatesdeclarations.blogspot.com/2015/11/ca12-tweeting-bank.html
Tweet for Barry Hermanson  in CA 12th Cong'l dist., who will best advance #DeclareForDemocracy. http://2016candidatesdeclarations.blogspot.com/2015/11/ca12-tweeting-bank.html
Tweet for Preston Pincus  in CA 12th Cong'l dist., who will best advance #DeclareForDemocracy. http://2016candidatesdeclarations.blogspot.com/2015/11/ca12-tweeting-bank.html
C. Persons to send your individually directed tweets to
The object is to find hashtags and twitter accounts which show a lot of twitter users in the California 12th Congressional districts that you can send your tweets to. If a person's twitter profile indicates the person appears to be in the California 12th Congressional district, be selective or indiscriminate as you choose in sending the person a tweet or not.
Do not worry about redundancy and whether others participating in this tweeting bank may also be tweeting to the same person.
Here are suggestions of "follower" lists to find people to tweet to:
https://twitter.com/sfgov/followers
https://twitter.com/SFist/followers
https://twitter.com/SFGate/followers

D. How to send your tweets efficiently
In doing your tweeting, you are repetitively sending the same tweet message. This can be done very efficiently. Get the tweet message on your mouse clipboard, go to the follower list or hashtag listing you are using for your tweeting, start with the first person on the list you want to tweet to, and do this:
1. Right click on person's Twitter name.
2. Choose "open in new tab"
3. Go to the new tab.
4. Click on the "Tweet to" button.
5. Paste the tweet message in the box.
6. Hit the "Tweet" button.
7. Close the tab, which takes you back to the list
8. Go on to next person, and repeat above steps.
You should be able to send 30 to 40 tweets in a half hour. Send as many tweets as you are willing to. Don't worry about any duplication that you think may arise.
If you are using a hashtag listing, be careful NOT to send your tweet using the "reply" button. Instead, send a clean, new tweet by right clicking on the person's Twitter name as specified in instruction 1 above.

Progress

This entry will report the progress of the citizen effort.

The general tactics are set out in the blog entry Tactics. That entry will be updated periodically.

Congressional districts and States where there has been activity are listed at the blog entry Districts with activity. The entry includes links to separate blog entries/pages that provide information about specific efforts and activities for the respective districts and States.

Other developments in the effort are indicated below. Updates will be made periodically.

11/18/15
The Maryland 8th Congressional district received early attention because the first endorsed Congressional candidate by MAYDAY.US is Jamie Raskin, a Democrat. For information about efforts that have been made in the district, see Some questions for Jamie Raskin and MAYDAY: Tweet and shout at #MD08. There was a Democratic debate in the Maryland 8th Congressional district on 11/17/15. Tweeting was done, which, if you scroll far enough down, you can find at #md08 and #cd8dems.

12/6/15
This Letter to No Labels was posted on December 3rd. Yesterday, the below tweet was sent on an individual basis to each of the members of Congress who are listed on this list of the No Labels Twitter account as supporting the National Strategic Agenda. (The below tweet is the last tweet that was sent to the list.)

12/12/15
A. MY TWEETING
Thus far I have been essentially the only tweeter on this #DeclareForDemocracy project.

I have sent more than a thousand individually directed tweets with links to this blog. I have received more than 5400 page views of this blog, including more than 4300 page views of the entry 2016 Congressional candidates Declarations. There have been scores or hundreds of retweets, favorites and other replies.

A couple of people have tweeted to their Congressional candidates, and I have tweeted to other Congressional candidates based on people telling me which Congressional districts they are in.

Besides tweeting links to this blog, I have sent tweets saying to the effect of,
Will your Congressperson answer the question that AL06 Rep. Gary Palmer will not answer? http://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2014/09/just-answer-question-gary-palmer.html
That link is in a different blog of mine, and it has received almost 900 page views during the past month as a result of my tweets.

For sending my tweets, I have used reform hashtags such as #getmoneyout#FixDemocracyFirst#DemocracySpring#movetoamend, and #representus, and also the  Presidential candidate hashtags #FeelTheBern, #Hillary2016,  #Trump and #JebBush.

B. SUPPORT OF CFR ORGANIZATIONS
I believe campaign finance reform organizations are fully cognizant of this Declarations effort. They have not, however, expressrf support for the effort or, if they think the effort should not be supported, given an explanation of why not. Whether the organizations will be drawn out remains to be seen. This effort needs scores, if not hundreds, of volunteer tweeters (see Tactics). To get volunteers, it would be obviously helpful if campaign finance reform organizations would urge their followers/members to participate in this effort.

Here are tweets from today further trying to get the CFR organizations to support this effort:

For subsequent progress, see Entry index.
